Setting out about 9am the plan was to follow the track south to Mt Tabletop crossing a stream or two on the way to refresh our water supply.
Checking out the flora
It was a pretty hot day and the track wasnt always well defined or easy to follow. There is a descent to a gully of approx 200m and corresponding ascent to reach the "tabletop" - an expanse of flattish rocky plateau that only Mick from the group had visited before. We located the geocache that Mick had placed some years ago and had lunch on the rocky outcrop. The return walk found us wondering about the identity of an interesting and unusual plant - it turned out to be member of the Bossiaea species and having a very limited distribution - Tabletop being one of its most important locations
We were amazed that the walk took us 6 hours given that the park sign indicated 10km and 3 hours
