Event Report:

This was a great weekend event thoroughly enjoyable. We stayed at the Riverside Caravan Park at Walwa and found it very comfortable.

Riverside campground

The autumn break had arrived so a warm sleeping bags and warming fire at night were greatly appreciated. Keeping warm

Storytelling around the fire

As none of us had Upper Murray paddling experience we were a bit tentative about committing to long paddles in unfamiliar water. However it was decided to drive up the river to Neils Bend and canoe back to the campground on the Saturday and this was achieved relatively easily.

Instructions

There is a rapids area about 2km upstream of the campground but it was successfully negotiated. Later that day 4 paddlers carried on down the river to Jingellic pub.

Spotlighting the way

Sunday we decided to repeat the Neils Bend to campground paddle and then after a coffee break in the arvo continued on downstream this time to Gadds Bend about 4km past Jingellic.
