Directions to the campsite - from Albury Wodonga drive to Rutherglen and continue on the Yarrawonga road for 24 km until you pass the Riverside Caravan Park on your left. If you cross the bridge you have missed the turnoff to Parolas which is on your right immediately just before the bridge. Click image below for full size version of the map.
If coming from Albury/Wodonga after turning right off the highway follow the track that hugs the Ovens river on your left for 2.5km to the campsite. There will be orange tape to mark the start of the track into Parolas and also at the first intersection. There are lots of sites on the way in so keep an eye out for the trailer with kayaks on board.
Cost of kayak, pfd and paddle hire for the weekend is $50 - a total of 12 single person kayaks will be hired from Murray River Canoe Hire but you can also bring your own gear.
A 20km loop paddle has been mapped out that takes us out one of the eastern channels of the Ovens into the Murray and then about 5km down the Murray and then back into another channel on the Ovens and eventually to our campsite. Click on the image below for full sized version. We may decide to do this circuit over the two days rather than just one. There will also be shorter paddles on offer close to the campsite.
