Meeting at the Bunnings Wodonga carpark at 0915 there is an option to car share or you can meet us at the Rutherglen Tourist Information Centre by 1000hrs (there is plenty of car parking). A short walk to the community-focused Caffeine N Machine Bakery to have a coffeand enjoy the extensive vintage car and motorcycle museum.
Then a short drive to the historic Stanton and Killeen winery for a cellar door tasting of their fortified and Portugese varietals and other emerging styles. The winery has a 148 year history and focuses on environmental sustainablity, blending the old with the new. If the weather permits we will sit outside in the peaceful garden and enjoy a cheese platter with the wines.
Following this we will take an easy 1 km stroll around the Lake King Wetlands on the Arthur Mann Scenic walk and if time permits take a look at the war memorabilia at adjacent Apex Memorial Park before lunch, which is booked for 1.30 pm. The Pickers Cafe and Collectables in the main street of Rutherglen serves good homemade food in an eclectic setting.
PLEASE NOTE ** there is a tasting fee of $10 which is refundable on purchase of any wine.
**For those who wish we will share a cheese platter at the winery (provided by the leader - a donation of a few $ towards the cost of the platter will be appreciated!!)
** this event is capped at 10 and is not dog friendly due to the cafes.
