We will meet at 0950 directly opposite the United Petroleum (Pie Face) Fuel station, 363 McKoy St, West Wodonga (there is a gravel pull in area on the left as you drive into McKoy St) for those who wish to car pool. Then a short 30 minute drive to the very impressive long driveway flanked by vineyards to the Atrium style Cellar Door of Morris Wines, which has recently reopened its iconic Cellar Door and Whisky Distillery following an extensive renovation project. The revitalised space includes a new state-of-the-art bar, tasting room and landscaped gardens, as well as the opportunity for an immersive and educational whisky and wine experience that weaves through the ancient barrel-house to the heart of the iconic 1930’s copper still.
We can taste the full range including the sumptuous Old Premium Rare Muscat (awarded ‘Best Muscat in the world’) and scored 100 points by James Halliday in 2020. The winery was recently named in the Top 10 Wineries in Australia list by Junkee Media. With six generations of winemaking heritage, Morris of Rutherglen has become synonymous with the production of world-class fortified wines and luxurious full-bodied red wines.
Lunch is booked for 12.30 pm at The Pickers Cafe and Collectables in the main street of Rutherglen (166 Main St) which serves good home baked food in an eclectic setting.
PLEASE NOTE ** there is a tasting fee of $15 which is refundable on any purchase .
**For those who wish we are able to share a cheese platter at the winery (provided by the leader - a donation of a few $ towards the cost of the platter will be appreciated!!)
** sorry, this event is not dog friendly.
