Grade 2 Day Walk - In Search of Silver Banksia

Banksia Marginata (Silver Banksia) is the only Banksia native to the North-East and only occurs in two small areas in Chiltern Mt Pilot National Park - that we know about!

In conjunction with the Friends of Chiltern Mt Pilot NP, we will meet 9am on Beechworth Rd just off the Hume Freeway overpass at Chiltern (Beechworth side)

Our expedition will look at 3 or 4 other likely areas in the hope that there are some more there..... We will firstly visit the main area of these plants so you will know what to look for, then the day will involve doing line-searches in the bush , with 3-5km drives in between (4wd not needed). Probably no more than 10km walking, mostly off-road but no big climbs. No botanical knowledge required!
