Camping and Canoeing on the Murray River at Walwa

Due to the issues with water quality we have relocated this event from the Ovens River at Bundalong to the Murray River at Walwa.

Just 800 metres from the beautiful small country town of Walwa on the Victorian side of the upper Murray River you will find the Walwa Riverside Caravan Park.We will meet at the Walwa Riverside Caravan Park on the Saturday morning at 9am

From Albury Wodonga it will take you approximately 1.5 hours to get there depending on the route you take. Google Maps will provide you with the information - follow this link

There is a camp kitchen for cooking at the caravan park - powered and unpowered camp sites are available

Cost of kayak, pfd and paddle hire for the weekend is $50

As this area is a new location for the club we will be taking additional precautions. We will review our safety and capsize rescue procedures and give the less experienced paddlers some practice in manouvering and back paddling before we set out for a downstream paddle.

A 10km one way paddle is planned for the Saturday. We will be driven upstream to Neil's Camping reserve and put the boats in there and paddle downstream to the Walwa Riverside Caravan Park.

On the Sunday we could repeat paddle but go all the way to Jingellic -15km
Or perhaps consider Clarks reserve to Neils reserve which is about 20km - a decision will be made after reviewing the progress made on Saturday/.
