Cycle Lake Mountain. 42km, 6h, grade 5. Start in Marysville and ride a steady gradient to the top. Reward with a rest at the cafe or a couple of zips down the flying fox. Look forward to how many fish to catch at a trout farm or in a local stream and a refreshing swim.“Lake Mountain is the closest of the 7 Peaks to Melbourne and is a great first challenge. Start the ride in Marysville and climb a challenging 21km to the resort village. Reaching grades of up to 10%, the first 4km up Robley Spur is the most sustained and steepest part of the whole ascent. Once you reach the top of the spur the stunning views across the Cathedral Range are your reward.

Start at the Lake Mountain information sign (at the roundabout in Marysville) at the start of the Marysville to Woods Point Road, Marysville.

Finish at the Lake Mountain Resort Village, Lake Mountain Rd Water is free at the Lake Mountain Café (check opening hours)

Shelter is available at the Bistro and Cafe.

Mobile coverage is good for Telstra and Optus.

Ride Description

Victoria’s 7 Peaks Ride is an at-your-own pace cycling challenge open to participate in from late October to April.

Taking you up winding mountain roads, around steep turns and past spectacular views right to the top of seven Victorian Alpine Resorts.

GRADE 5 – prolonged steep grades like Mt Buffalo and Falls Creek.

Equipment: Bicycle, helmet, water, whistle, money, medicines and first aid kit.

For single half day or full day cycling events consider bringing a current medical information form. Puncture repair kit including pump Water bottles  Sunscreen Helmet Gloves Sufficient food and water bearing in mind the distance, duration, and workload of the event Suitable clothing and footwear Wet weather waterproofs Basic tools for bicycle maintenance Basic first aid kit including your specific medication eg asthma applicator Torch or headlamp for contingencies It is responsibility of each member to update EMERGENCY CONTACT (and) MEDICAL  information if there is a change in details.
