Paddling on the Murray river last Thursday night was pretty interesting with strong gusts of wind buffeting the boats - we had 5 in kayaks and 8 in canadians the kayaks coped really well but the canoes were a bit more of a challenge but in the end it was all good fun. Thanks to Dave Breedon of Murray River Canoe Hire

What We've Been Up To!
Oct18-25 Grampians National Park
8 members had a great time at the Grampians based at Wartook. Despite diverse weather conditions we completed walks along rivers, into historical sites, upon mountains and into caves as well as finding geocaches. Highlights included surviving an extraordinary deluge that threatened to wash us all into the Wimmera river and the exquisite delights of the extraordinary wildflower displays. It was generally agreed that hydrological surveys will be conducted prior to making campsite choices for the next trip!
Weekend in the Warbies
What a fabulous range of activities we had on the last weekend in september - the navigation training with good old map and compass run by Mick Webster on Saturday morning was enjoyed by all 9 participants. Wildflower walks, spotlighting, waterfall exploration and geocaching activities capped off a great weekend organised by Tracey Barkley.
Bike ride and pub dinner
John Jamison led a ride to Barnawatha on Oct 24th if you missed this one there will be others to choose from soon.
Committee Meeting #12
was held on Oct 16 at the Thurgoona Community Centre - minutes are available here
Mt Granya Summit Circuit Walk
A group led by Tracey Barkley completed this walk on October 26th
Gundabooka National Park Sept 21-24 Event Report by Trish Madden
What a great trip. We left Albury 4:30am Saturday morning, morning tea in Hillston, lunch in the park at the Cobar market. Stayed in the Belah shearers quarters, amazing accommodation. Sunday morning started with a full cooked breakfast bacon, eggs etc. walking at 7:15am. Such an amazing place with Mt Gundabooka rising in front of us. An enjoyable lunch was has had while taking in the amazing views. Birds everywhere. Late afternoon saw us drop off the ridge and make for the road. While the girls set up camp and started dinner the guys headed 5km down the road to pick up our water, making it a epic effort by the guys. The wind picked up through the night which was nice for it cooling effects. Walking by 7:30am we followed to base of the range back to the cars through to grass plains. Eagles, lizards, snakes, emu, kangaroo and all manner of birds were to be seen, as well as an overwhelming number of wild goat. Thank you to everyone who came along and made this such an unforgettable trip.
